Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is renowned for her roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards which included an Oscar. She started her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. The actress is a lover of acting ever since she was in school. Her debut role in a show in the fifth grade was in Helen Keller. The actress was deaf in one ear after suffering from the mumps virus, however she did not permit this to deter her desire to be an actor. As a teenager she studied drama, before moving to New York City. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in the lift. Together, they wrote Broadway Crimes of the Heart. It was Hunter's acting debut. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. She landed one as an actress who played the lead character of Swing Shift. Holly Hunter has been in several movies, television shows as well as movies throughout the span of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
