Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is recognized for her outstanding performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her numerous awards which included an Oscar. Her acting career started on Broadway through a myriad of Broadway as well as Off Broadway productions. Passionate about acting since her high school days, she played Helen Keller in a play when she was in fifth grade. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf on one ear. However, she did not allow this hinder her progress as an actress. She studied theater in college before moving in New York City in pursuit of her goals. Hunter made her Broadway debut when she had a chance meeting with Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved from Los Angeles she tried to be a film actor and eventually landed a supporting role as a character Swing Shift. Since then she has appeared in numerous films and TV shows and films in a career spanning more than 30 years. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
